IJES (Intelligent Job Evaluation System) is Microcare Technologies’ flagship Job Evaluation platform, supporting NHS organisations with Agenda for Change (AfC) job evaluation and matching since 2012. Now used by more than 90 NHS organisations, IJES is a mature, secure, cloud-hosted and web-based service designed to support nationally consistent, auditable and fair job evaluation processes at scale.
The platform provides comprehensive end-to-end support for the full Job Evaluation lifecycle, including role submission, panel evaluation, moderation, consistency checking, reporting, and audit. IJES incorporates the NHS National Profiles and Job Evaluation Handbooks, supports panel meeting management, and enables structured rationale capture to ensure transparency and defensible outcomes.
IJES is designed for multi-organisation use, with robust role-based access controls and logical data segregation to support local autonomy alongside regional and national oversight. Advanced reporting and benchmarking capabilities allow organisations to monitor outcomes, identify trends, and support assurance processes.
The system includes powerful consistency-checking tools and governed automation to support quality and reliability. These include borderline-outcome alerts, peer-role comparison, anomaly detection, validation checks and workflow prompts to highlight cases requiring review. All automation and AI-assisted features are designed to support—not replace—human judgement, with decisions remaining firmly with trained JE practitioners and panels. AI-enabled functionality is configurable and opt-in, ensuring alignment with NHS governance frameworks, partnership working, and evolving national policy.
IJES is delivered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution hosted in a secure UK-based cloud environment, with UK data residency and alignment to UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, NHS DSPT requirements, and UK Government digital and security standards. The platform is supported by comprehensive audit logging, resilience, backup, and disaster-recovery arrangements.
Integration is a core feature of the IJES architecture. The platform supports secure data exchange with other NHS systems and provides structured data-export facilities to enable interoperability, reporting and assurance.
Our onboarding approach includes configuration, data migration from legacy systems where required, training and supported go-live. IJES supports a tiered training model for different user groups and a train-the-trainer approach to enable local administrator users, alongside ongoing business-as-usual training and in-system guidance, FAQs and learning materials.
IJES operates on a transparent, scalable pricing model with no limits on users or documents and no per-evaluation charges. Ongoing development ensures the platform continues to evolve in line with NHS policy, digital standards and customer needs.
Designed first for the NHS, IJES provides a proven, future-ready foundation for nationally consistent, transparent and modern Job Evaluation
